books I'm reading

  • The Memory Palace by Mira Birtok
  • Room by Emma Donoghue (told from the point of view of a 4-5 year old)
  • The Unnamed by Joshua Ferris (unusual but interesting premise: the main character has a walking affliction)
  • Swim Back to Me by Ann Packer
  • As Always, Julia: The Letters of Julia Child and Avis DeVoto (as a foodie and resident of Cambridge, loved this book)
  • The Widower's Tale by Julia Glass
  • The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (complete series) by Alexander McCall Smith
  • Too Much Happiness by Alice Munro (short stories)
  • The Story Sisters: A Novel by Alice Hoffman
  • The Believers by Zoe Heller
  • The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski (yes, Oprah is right, it's a great book. You'll never look at dogs the same way again.)
  • Golden Grove by Francine Prose (from point of view of girl whose sister dies unexpectedly. Was lighter than I expected given the subject matter)
  • Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri (loved it)
  • The Other Side of the Island by Allegra Goodman (intriguing futuristic setting)
  • The Suicide Index by Joan Wickersham
  • The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield
  • The Inheritance of Loss by Kiran Desai
  • Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
  • Magical Thinking by Augusten Burroughs
  • The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
